As we are moving into warmer weather we are going to be meeting weekly from now on with the exception of Easter and May bank holiday weekends.

The children are progressing really well and are practicing tool skills. We will be moving on to some fire safety skills in the near future.

We have received our tree pack from the Woodland Trust and some of these are planted and are now growing in our tree nursery.

Children are learning to recognise the signs of spring and are keen to point them out as they see them.

We are still able to welcome a few more children should anyone wish to join us .

After our winter break we are resuming sessions on Saturday mornings. The first session will be at 10am on Saturday 16th February. We are looking forward to welcoming back many of our children and also looking forward to meeting some new faces. There are a few spaces left so if any one is interested please message me or email me and I will send the registration pack.

Sessions are competitively priced at £10 and last for two hours. They are tailored for children between the ages of 5 and 11.

Sessions will run every alternate week up to Easter. Following the Easter break sessions will be held weekly.

Jenny has recently joined the Waingroves committee and is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner!

Jenny is an enthusiastic outdoor teacher and we relish the opportunity to have her in our community, introducing children big and small into our wonderful woods, linking nature to education is a great way for children to learn safely about the environment around them.

A bit about the Forest School and Jenny...

Jenny is a qualified primary school teacher of 20 years experience; teaching throughout key stage 1 and 2. She has also worked with SEN children at senior level. During her career Jenny has been the lead teacher for achieving ECO school status with a local school and has trained with Steve Van Matre regarding Earth education. She has contributed to the steering group for Global education and been involved with Trees for all - working with children to help plant the national forest. Jenny qualified as a level 3 forest school leader in 2017 and since then been running forest school sessions in Waingroves Woodland. She is extremely passionate about introducing children to learning about nature whilst having lots of fun. The Forest School aim is to learn to play safely in the woodland whilst also appreciating the wonder of nature around. Every time the school are in the woods we find lots of wonderful things to see and discover. Jenny's aim is to ensure that future generations are able to appreciate the woodlands and in turn become guardians that will enjoy and protect this beautiful area.

The Forest School woodland day from September will be Thursdays. Jenny is hoping to start a 'stay and play'session for carers and their toddlers in the morning. In the afternoon she is planning to have a home school education group and the final session of the day will be an after school from 4 til 6pm. The plan is to run until October Half term as by then we will have shorter days.

Jenny would love to hear from anyone in the area that is interested in helping their children to love playing and learning in a woodland environment.
